I am gearing up to make a few cards today, inbetween having some school friends over to hang out with my kids. I am determined to get a video blog or vlog tutorial up before the end of the holidays. I have enlisted my daughters help with this one so need to do it before she heads back to school. I know I am a visual learner and love love love youtube and all the online videos. I guess it's time to instruct the way I learn best. Just need to get my head around it and work how to do it all. I am assuming most creative people learn best visually than with instructions or is it just me....

My Big Dreams

I am just back from a little 3 day getaway at the beach this week. I really needed to have the mental break from work and home. Just to be in different place for a few days can be so clearing for my mind. I need to remind myself to step away from all the busyness and disconnect. It is easier to do this when you are away from your work and home not as easy when you work from home.

I have come to the conclusion this year that I really want to give Koko Vanilla Headquarters a new home. I am thinking a studio located somewhere other than at my house, with space enough to hold a retail area for customers to purchase goods from, a large space to hold classes as well as an area for stock and online sales. My dreams are big and I have had these thoughts in the back of my mind for years now. But sometimes the fear of taking the next step is paralysing. However in order to grow my business a change needs to be made. I also am craving interacting with customers and I also miss teaching classes which I did very early on for a little while.

So I am putting it out there and beginning to take the necessary steps to source a studio space. This is the first and most important step. It has to be exactly what I picture in my mind or at least very close. When the location is right then I can begin to plan the rest. It's an exciting step but I know if I can get my mindset right and implement the people and resources I need to help me with the process, I will make it work. This will essentially mean I will have some store hours for retail as well as classes and workshops being held. Of course the online sales will always remain.

I also wanted to share today with you a little excerpt from this Mermaid Under the Sea party on the Amy Atlas Blog. How cute do these chevron bags look?? These are available in our online store. They are small, but perfect for popping a few lollies into. Next month these should be available in a middy size which will be bigger. Can't wait to stock those also. Handmade Card Inspiration and some new Brown Paper Party Bags

Here are a couple of gift cards I've made in the past few days. First card is a custom made card for a customer. This card is actually quite large it measures 6" x 9.25". This was the customer's request.

Second photo is a close up of the washi tape I used. It is the thin strip of decorated tape between the two patterned papers. It looks as though it's all one piece of patterned paper but it isnt. That's what is so great about it, it is semi transparent, this makes for a wonderful effect. It is in store from Hambly Prints. I just love it's versatility. It is one of my newest favourite craft supplies to use and I can see a new addiction begining!!

Third photo is of this new beautiful ribbon which has arrived from Vandoros called Chloe - love it. Yet to photograph and add to site but will be soon. I have a few new ribbons to photograph, will do them all at once when I get a chance.

Second card is a Valentine's inspired card. It is for sale on site here. I was in the mood to continue the theme once I made the other card. Just adore this colour combination. Oh by the way the patterned paper used is from Basic Grey Indie Bloom - Tarantella, available here.

Blog posts have been short and sweet lately as we are in the thick of summer holidays here. Although I am still working, I am working around having the kids home. Yes I also have my husband home for a couple of weeks, but well lets be honest its kind of like having 4 kids home really.

At the moment any orders placed are being shipped same day or next day so a fairly quick turnaround for those of you that may want to know. Of course I am always contactable by mobile or email and I will get back to you asap for any questions or urgent orders.

Enjoy the rest of this gorgeous warm weekend and take the time to do something that you wouldn't normally do. I am going to sit down at some stage this weekend and plan out the year for creative projects. I don't usually do this but I really want to begin to make "being creative" just for the fun of it a regular practice. I have purchased my new inspiration journal and I am ready to begin filling it with whatever grabs me. So inspired by the previous post here and Dina Wakely's Blog that I realise that the only way to make this a habit is to begin to schedule it into my life, just like exercise and yoga and meditation. If something is important to you, creating the time to do it has to be relevant. When you fill your time with things that are less important, then time gets wasted. So one of my goals this year is to use my time efficiently and effectively. That doesn't mean doing things quicker or rushing it means utilising the time that you have and filling it with your highest priority tasks. xo

Valentine Inspired Collage Tag - Creative Warm Up

I was inspired by this 30 day Creative Jump Start Summit. Each day a different blogger puts up a video about how to harness your creativity. You can still join the summit, its free.

The first post was by Dina's Blog. She talks about doing a creative warm up rather than going in to be creative cold. Just like you warm up before playing a sports game or training for an event its the same with being creative. She suggests just playing with your supplies and mediums whether its paints, inks, papers, stamps, embellishments whatever you have in your stash.

The key is not to over think the process, just play with your supplies, doesn't matter whether you make a mistake and throw it out or whether you end up using it. Just begin to create with your supplies and see where it leads and how it begans to inspire you to create more. Here is my little creative play which took all of 10 mins last night. No thinking just playing. No focusing on fear of failure because you are just warming up not doing your actual project.

I just added inks, glitter puff paint, stamped image, a vintage page from a kids book, punched out shapes and ribbon and twine and the cabachon etc. Dina suggests using tags, she buys them by the box load. I used this pink tag which is available on site. I just decorated without worrying about how it looks. So here is the finished project. Not bad for a first go. Like I said I don't absolutely love it but it doesn't matter because what is has done is make me feel like I want to do more. In fact I am so wanting to get out and using my supplies that I think I will grab the kids and get them to join in the fun just so I can have a good chunk of creative time. There you have it the process actually works.

I highly recommend joining the summit and getting the passcode to watch this video I loved it and you will be inspired to creative.

Happy New Year Everyone,

My word for 2012 is.......

For something different I have joined Ali edwards - One Little Word Class this year. I choose a different word every year to focus on but this time I felt like I wanted to take it one step further and really live my word. Often a few months into the year it has lost its focus so by joining this class it is a year long class with monthly prompts. It will be sure to keep me on track.

This is exactly what I want to achieve. I know that this state of being can affect change both for myself and those around me. I have spent the last couple of years practicing inner peace but this year I really want to bring it to the forefront of my life and master it so that it becomes a normal and natural habit.

Being mindful and in a state of peace is natural for our bodies, however because we never seem to take the time to slow down it is really hard to achieve this state easily, both in our minds and in our bodies. Hence we end up being so wired and tired and not living our best lives. If you are contemplating your word for the year, head over to Ali's blog and take a look at some words others have chosen. One might resonate with you.

Here we are on the flipside of Christmas. Also my favourite part of the year. Christmas has come and gone and the New Year awaits. If you have followed my blog for a while you would know I have a standard routine for this time of year.

Of course some time to reflect and journal on the year coming to an end and delve into what has worked for me and what hasn't and what changes need to be made. A time to ponder on the kind of year I want to create and where my focus needs to be the most. A time to look at all my accomplishments and be proud of what I have achieved before moving on the next chapter. A time to be greatful for all the amazing things that have happened and the support I have around me. A time to surrender control and know that the universe has my back and I just have to trust that whatever unfolds for me, will be for my highest good.

There is so much information on line about decluttering, organising, planning and inner work regarding the new year. You tube and blogs are the most amazing source of information. Some sites I frequent, I have mentioned in the past on other posts, some are linked in my sidebar on the blog. I encourage you all to take some quiet time and do some inner reflection and journaling in whatever way works best for you. It will be well worth the time you put in.

I don't really label this process making New Year Resoultions, I just aim each and every day to try and be the best version of me. To keep it real and to reach out to others and connect in an authentic way. We are all connected energetically and what you put out to others will be reflected back to you. The thoughts you think the actions you take and words you speak must all be in alignment. Then miracles begin to happen effortlessly. I have learned this in the past year. Opporuntities have fallen in my lap without me even knowing how they could possibly have come about. When you finally get out of your own way you see what it means to allow things to flow. Of course each and every day I needed to show up and do the work and there has been plenty of that in the past year, but I have stopped trying to figure it all out and worry about how this or that might happen.

I hope I have inspired even the tiniest spark in you to make the time to do some inner work.

I am off to continue my mission to clear out and organise as much as I can in the next few days. I have huge plans for the coming year and I need to make sure energetically and physically my space and mind will be fully prepared for it.

I will be back with an update before the year is out!!

Christmas Wrapping made beautiful!!!

Whoohoo, we are on the homeward stretch people.

It has finally begun to slow down around here and it's now time to get some seriously amazing gift wrapping done. How is your gift wrapping going?? This is the fun part everyone, you done all the shopping now it's time to crank the music up loud and have some fun wrapping and making it all look pretty. Here is some inspiration from none other than pinterest of course. For more christmas wrapping ideas you can see them here

How inspiring is all this beautiful wrapping. As you can see the plain brown paper is popular to wrap with as you can then introduce any colour or theme to match. I especially love how in this last photo they have used chinese newspaper as a contrast to wrap with as well.

Another easy ideas are doilies they make any package look great. Of course twine is a popular favourite and any sort of red ribbon in any pattern.

So what are you waiting for, there is no reason for your gifts to look less than amazing this year. Hey Everybody,

I so miss this little blog of mine. I keep thinking I must blog, I must blog!! but at the moment it really is at the bottom of my priority list!! (insert sad face here)

I am completely snowed under with orders and have been for the last two months. It's partly the season but I think online shopping has just exploded. To be honest I have done a fair bit of shopping myself online as well. It's not that I don't LOVE going to the shops to shop, it's just there is no time, and to be honest I can't be bothered with all the stuff that goes with it, like looking for a parking spot for ages, walking through crowds, waiting in line, walking from shop to shop to shop to shop.... to find the perfect gift. I am sure you all know what I mean. I think gift vouchers will be my best christmas friend this year. I have made peace with the fact that it may not be the gift I want to give, but as all the kids are hitting their teens they just want to pick and buy their own things and so I am okay with that.

Anyway onto what I really wanted to blog about, I wanted to show you the most gorgeous trees I bought on etsy just last week. So divine and they only took less than a week to arrive on my doorstep. The shop on etsy is called Kates Cottage. she has these beautiful little bottle brush sparkly trees. I bought the pink ones pictured below but she does them in a few other colours like white, green and darker pink. I would love more to add to this set. I bought them to use for photograph props as well as to match my Christmas Decor. I add something new each year. I am sure you will see these little trees adorn some photos at some stage and I am so tempted to buy some white ones as well, because as you know white goes with everything. Hehe!!

So onto the present moment, I have a couple of teenage girls laughing and joking around in the background here after going to a party last night and sleeping over here. These girls are already on holidays, I think its going to be a long holiday season. I may need to employ some of these little teenage elves?? What do you think it might keep them out of mischief at least until Christmas anyway.

Hello Everyone

I am dropping in ever so quickly to mention there are a few new goodies now up on site.

So excited I finally have these back in stock after so long to get them in.

Sponge Daubers

What are they???? I hear you ask...... they may not look pretty but that's okay becuase they are a tool to make your work look super amazing. I use these on every project and one for every colour family. They are durable and last for ages. You can get affects like the tags pictured below. The inking around the edges of the paper is how you get that distressed, shabby look which I am totally in love with.

Take your sponge dauber, dip in ink pad and then run around the edges or over your paper depending how faint or deep you want the distressing to look. Too easy. You can see the effect around these gift tags. They were inked with Old Paper from Tim Holtz and they look vintage and shabby. Without the inking they look dull and boring.

Below is another sample. Here I have used a stronger colour vintage ink Walnut Ink and you can see a different effect. These ink pads last a really long time and its worth investing in a few different colours you love the most and a pack of sponge daubers and you are set. The ink pads can also be used for any other project like inking stamps etc.

Finally Divine Twine Holiday Twine has arrived

This is a limited edition twine released for Christmas. I have brought up a fair few rolls but don't know if there will be more when I go to reorder so please if you love it and want it don't hesitate purchase it now, as I am not sure I will be getting more in before Christmas.

Here is a closer look at the red/green/white colour combination. Love it, reminds me of candy canes.

A handmade Wedding Card

I was asked by a friend this morning at School to make a last minute Wedding card for a wedding she was attending today. As I walked away thinking about what design I would create, (as I don't often making wedding cards) I remembered that some ago I had purchased some gorgeous Bridal Wedding Dress embellishments that I came across and loved to sell on site. Of course they were shoved to the back of the cupboard and to the end of the never ending to do list and hadn't made it on site yet until today.

So pictured below is said Wedding Dress Embellishment, now available for purchase here

And here is the card I created with it.

This dress is so beautifully and delicately made. The card is instantly Wedding Worthy without too much effort. By the way the card looks even prettier in real life, the photography doesn't really capture it here.

Hope you are having a lovely Friday. I am busy packing orders and catching up on things around here before the weekend. Very peaceful and taking my time. I am tempted to go out for a couple of hours but feel like getting on top of things here is more efficient.

By the way and I just wanted to make note of the date today 11-11-11. Apparently this number combination is very powerful and will affect us all in different ways. It is also a powerful day to set the intention for where you are heading and what you would like from life. Remove anything inauthentic and toxic people that don't lift you up and inspired need to be given the flick. I know easier said than done especially when those people are close to you or family members. Just for today set the intention and commit to change.

Introducing Some New Products

Hey Everyone

I thought I would pop in and share a few new products I have been adding to the site the last couple of days. I have finally caught up with all your orders and am beginning to feel a little more in control of things around here. I'm sure it won't last long but I am taking a breather this afternoon and catching up whilst there is less pressure in an easy and calm manner. My large project for the next couple of days is to create a new Christmas Card Kit, ready for release by the end of the week. I also have plenty more stock to photograph and add to the site. Hello everyone!!!!

I must apologise for being away so long, my poor neglected blog. I have thought about posting several times but truth be told there has been no time. On a positive note it seems the newest kit is an absolute hit. This release of our newest kit (see post below) was so well loved it set off a renewed frenzy of kit purchases across the site which has kept me super busy packing and sending.

So as things calm a little I have a snippet of time to share some new party products now available in store here.

Gorgeous polkadot products. The different polkadot styles shown below are all available in the 3 different colours in each style, ie. Noodle Box, Loot Bags and Popcorn Cones. There are also straws to match but I haven't listed them yet.

Back in the Swing...

Hey Everyone,

I'm Back!!! I have just spent a week in Queensland having a family holiday. It's great to be back though, going away is fun but coming home can be just as good. The photo above is the view from the apartment we stayed in on the 26th floor. This particular day was overcast when I took the photo but every other morning the sun was shining. So nice to wake up to the sun shining and reflecting off the water. Day and night it was buzzing and busy with people everywhere. Nice for a change to be amongst it all, it felt like inner city living.

I have to confess I missed this little blog and posting. It has been such a busy few weeks a long drawn out flurry of activity between birthday parties, end of term and a then a holiday to prepare for. This holiday was a little on the busy side as well as we took the kids to the theme parks in Gold Coast, which they loved. So I think I can actually begin to breathe again and relax at least for a couple of weeks before it begins all over again with all the usual busyness of these last couple of months in the year

I plan on spending the next couple of days getting caught up on orders, so for those of you who placed orders whilst I was away I thank you for you patience and understanding with the delayed shipping.

My Studio - A work in progress - keeping it real

Okay time for airing some dirty laundry so to speak. A few weeks back I promised before and after photos of my studio/creative space/computer room. I was completely motivated one saturday as I often am and also completely fed up truth be told of looking at this space. This is my view when I sit down to create or pack orders it is just an absolute mess. Disorganised and unproductive to say the least.

Anyway back to a few weeks ago. I began organising I spent a couple of hours work mainly to get that big pile of 12 x 12 patterned papers on the left hand corner of my desk loaded on site and filed in with all the other 12 x 12 papers in alphabetical order like the photo below

All great but that's where it began and ended. Then life took over, orders come flooding in, kids need to be driven here there EVERYWHERE, school needs volunteers for this or that because apparently there are no other parents available, birthday parties looming,etc etc. I am sure you all know the drill, this is nothing new in the world of the multi tasking work at home mum.

Let's fast forward to today. Last night just after we finished dinner my husband made a comment that I am the messiest cook. WELL need I say more. In my defence if I am super organised whilst cooking and have the time, I clean as I go so there is no mess at the end, however, if I am not quite so organised, and rushing, yes I will be the first to admit that the kitchen ends up looking like a science experiment gone wrong. So why am I talking kitchens and cooking??

I think creating in my studio is not all that different. Often when I am in that creative state and in the flow I just grab and use and no, I don't put back as I go. If I use a punch, a stamp, an ink pad, a ribbon. The whole lot gets left on the desk. Often after I have finished or at the end of the day I will do a quick tidy up and put things back, but should I get sidetracked by the above distractions I mentioned earlier it gets left. That's life and that is the reality.

So what is the point of this blog post????? I am not justifying that I am a messy creative person even though a part of me thinks that if you constantly stop and put things back in their place while you create, you are interupting the creative flow of your project. However there is the tidy side of me that likes everything in order and neat and that every item has a home and it is put back there after each project no matter what!!! This is not just a physical clearing of the space to be prepared for the next creative project its a mental clearing also. Lets face it, it does my head in seeing this view day in and day out. It also doesn't help that kids often use this room and add their own mess. Not to mention when a customer dropped in the other day to pick up her order and came right in to see the other colours of twine available I was completely embarassed and apologetic and she was most understanding. However to me it is just not a productive business enviroment and it blocks the flow of success.

Soooo preparing the space, making the work area clean, clear and organised makes way for creative ideas to flow so your right brain (creative brain) is not bogged down with how cluttered the space is and how messy the desk is and how it can not possibly create untill the mess is cleared stated by left brain (logical brain).

In my defense this room gets no sunlight and this is a big deal for me as I think this can make or break how productive and creative you are in your work space. Ideally it would be great to move this all to a larger sunlit room, but given there is nowhere else in the house to do this I am stuck here and need to make the best of what I have. So it is all a work in progress and I will keep you updated in stages as I find really great ideas for storing and organising this space. Rather than doing some amazing after photos of a whole room makeover, because clearly that won't be happening anytime soon.

Having said all of this, if your creative space looks like mine and I bet it does, be kind to yourself and perhaps try and implement at least 10 mins at the end of the day to just put everything back in its place. That is my challenge from here on in so lets do it together. Besides you are more inclined to come back sooner to create if the space is clear and ready for the next time.

Party Time

Gosh I just realised it has been a whole week since my last post. The week just flew by and here we are its Sunday again. Yesterday we had my sons 9th birthday which consisted of a double party. One for his friends during the day and then family at night. I am completely worn out and glad I have lived to see another day. I spent the last two days running around preparing, shopping, cooking, baking, cleaning, organising and of course hosting. Here are a few photos. I should have taken some photos of all the food platters I did but I just didn't think to.

Because we had two parties I had to make two cakes. The blue cake was for family in the evening and the ice-cream cake at the bottom was for friends. Ice cream cake is the easiest to make and always a hit. I just buy a few different tubs of ice-cream, whatever flavours my son requested. I then line a cake tin with glad wrap and melt the icecream till it is spreadable and then layer it and freeze and then do the same with the next flavour. Then I turn it out onto a plate and drizzled some choc top which goes hard as soon as you pour it onto the icecream. So easy looked and tasted amazing.

Cute little buntings and flags as well as all the decorations for the lolly bags can all be found on site. I am of to recharge and relax.

Really is there much more to it than that?? Sometimes simplifying the process can give us much needed relief when the same lesson in life keeps recurring over and over and you can't work out why. Or perhaps you kind of know why but making the change is harder than staying stuck in the safety of familiar. Surrending it all to the universe and just saying you know what " I am so over this, you work it out, oh and thanks for listening!!" To be honest I have been doing a lot of this lately and slowly but surely changes are happening. Don't get me wrong you still need to show up in life, if you are given an opportunity then its' up to you to take it. You can't just sit there. The universe will conspire for you and with you but you have to do your part as well. All I am saying is you may as well do it with a huge smile and lots of laughter, plenty of deep belly breathing not shallow breathing and no more rushing and multitasking unless of course you get a buzz out of being dizzy and anxious.

I was also inspired today by this amazing post on Cheryl Richardson's Blog absolutely worth a read. The title of this blog post is 5 Ways Your Creative Flow Can Kick Butt. Don't we all need more creative ways to kick butt...... Points Number 2, 4, 5 really resonate with me in this post.

Finally another statement I heard the other day which I have heard a million times before by the wonderful Louise Hay. Every thought you think and every word you speak is an affirmation. Just for one day notice how negative your comments are, you will be surprised!! Sometimes it is disguised as sarcasm, being judgemental, trying to be funny or just plain being rude, pessimistic and negative or fear based and put downs. Watch and listen to how your self talk plays the saboteur and then in turns trys to sabotage everyone else around you with fear. BE MINDFUL of how you speak and what you say it makes a big difference. Also remember the thoughts that are behind those words in the first place. Just to give you an example on Friday I was helping out with a round robin game with my kids school. As I was scoring I often had kids sitting on the bench beside me commenting on the state of the game. It never ceases to amaze me how kids pick up negativity at such a young age. If the kids team sitting on the bench waiting to play were begining to lose then they would all be saying "Were gonna lose this oh we've lost etc etc." Of course it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. So I would say to these kids "If you say you are going to lose you will lose. You haven't lost yet so be positive and focus on playing the game, having fun and not on the outcome of winning or losing." Now fast forward this to today as Adults. How often do we do this claim defeat before its over with our words.

Try to reframe anything you say in a positive way. Even if you are having a really ordinary day, take a deep breath, make peace with it, laugh at yourself or someone else and reframe it into a positive statement. Always try to remember if someone says something to bring you down it is their issues that they are dealing with and not yours. Don't let someone else's negative words spoil YOUR day!

Boys 9th Birthday Invitations

Happy Thursday Everyone!!

It's that time again in our household. A busy month with a birthday party or two looming in the next couple of weeks. Actually my son has picked an easy party that requires minimal effort on my behalf except to prepare and organise food, cake and party favours. The kids will be going to dark zone and then back here for food and cake too finish off. Too easy.... Then of course there will be a family get together. As the kids are getting older it is now harder to combine friends and family and its just easier to do two seperate parties albeit double the work.

Anyway here is the invite I designed and created last night. My idea behind these invites was to make them cool, fun and casual. I am loving the Glassine Bags. Envelopes are things of the past around here. The best thing about popping the invitations in a bag rather than an envelope means you have more options for different sizes. I didn't have to stick to a standard size envelope to make the invite fit into the envelope. I wanted to decorate the bags a little more, but these were the quickest whip up at 11pm last night so I refrained.

Supplies Used - The patterned paper used to punch the stars out is Glitz Designs Basic Stripes and the twine to wrap around the invite is Blueberry By Divine Twine. The rest is just printed from my computer onto white cardstock and then backed with red cardstock. The stars are double punched and added with dimensional tape between them to give some lift. These invites look really cool are simple to make and perfect for a 9 yr olds party and my son loved them.

Enough chatting for now I am off to my Zumba Class and then home to work through that never ending to do list for the day. Have a fabulously creative Thursday Everyone!!! xxxx

Creating a Mixed Media Canvas

I finally finished my Mixed Media Canvas yay!!. Mixed Media means using different mediums like paints, glues, fabrics, papers, buttons etc etc etc. Layering your work with all these different mediums is what makes it a unique piece of art.

Many artist create mixed media canvasses for different reasons and in different ways. Some only uses paints, chalks, pastels and inks. I love to combine whatever I have around here and love to mix it up with different mediums. Here I have used, paints, spray paint, rub ons, doilies, chipboard birdcage, tuile fabric, vintage music paper, rose ribbon trim, sculputured flowers, satin ribbon, cardstock, pearls, grid paper.

Who would have known my kids old unfilled school books would come in handy. I printed the saying on the grid paper. These can be found at newsagents or office works or any other place that stocks school supplies. I have a font that looks like handwriting as I wanted it to look casual and artsy not formal. I had read these words on some Oracle Healing cards I was reading the other day and decided I wanted to incorporate them with the bird cage, the bird and being free. The words read "Everything you do in life is by choice, and you are free to choose again."

The message being that even when we think we can't change our circumstances, in our minds we are free to change how we think and percieve things to be. No one can ever take that from us. I love that the canvas can have a profound message whilst being a piece of artwork as well. It combines my two favourite things being creative and delivering a positive message.

I must add that whilst I was finishing this canvas the other night my 13 year old daughter saw it for the first time. I have to mention she is the one hardest to convince that she is creative she always says she is no good at art and therefore has conditioned her mind to think that she can't do it and doesn't even try and if she does its always a half hearted attempt. However when she saw this canvas straight away she said it was amazing and she wanted to make one as well. It's interesting how different ways of creating art can appeal to different people. I guess this canvas may appeal to teens as there are no rules and you can make it as grungy as you like and even add graffiti and do anything really. There are no limits, no boundries just have fun and express yourself.

To finish up, I am thinking I would love to do something similar to this that I can create into a kit with step by step instructions and all the supplies needed to create it. Some of the supplies found on this canvas are available on site if you would like to have a go at recreate this canvas. Items on the canvas available on site are Kaisercraft birdcage, Making Memories Rose Ribbon trim, The Cabachons, Cherry Arte Rub Ons. The rest are all bits and pieces I have from around here. The canvas is from our local $2 shop. I have used the wide canvas not the thinner ones

Being Inspired - an online magazine

Hey Everyone

Happy Sunday Morning to all and a Happy Fathers Day to the dads out there.

This morning I awoke bright and early like 6am and the house is so quiet. Outside there is a spring breeze and you can smell the spring blossoms in the air such a beautiful time of year. So peaceful and you can tell Summer is not far away.

So whilst the house was quiet and I knew I wouldn't have any interuptions for at least an hour before anyone else wakes up (we are early risers around here) I thought I would take the time to flick through my latest purchase of an online magazine. I have to say I am thoroughly inspired.

The magazine to which I refer to is Etzcetera Magazine. The first issue was free and now the second issue is a super low price or you can get a yearly subsciption. Although its lovely to have an actual paper magazine to touch and hold I am loving that you can link straight to the pages that inspire you. So an advertisement with something of interest if you hover over the photo it will provide a link direct to that persons site or blog. Now you can't do that with a paper magazine, so cool.

Kim Archer the amazing and inspiring lady behind this magazine has done such a great job. I have followed her work for years and she just keeps reinventing herself and coming up with new ideas. This magazine has some great step by step tutorials and great articles. It's not just papercrafts, its also general craft and other interests as well. A perfect balance of everything you would want in a magazine if you are creative. Why not take a look.

Well my hour of peace has come and gone. Kids are up (except for the teen in the house) and hubby is up and I promised I would do a cooked Sunday Breakfast.

Mixed Media Collage Canvas

I am just about to head off for school pick up, but wanted to quickly show you all a sneak peak of my canvas collage. A SLOW work in progress. I can blame my procrastination tendecies with this one trying to make it all perfect so I keep changing bits and pieces. Some techniques used so far painting, spray painting, glimmer mist and some glitter. Of course as you can see the gorgeous birdcage from Kaisercraft is the main feature.

Hoping to have this finished by the end of the week so I can start the next one. hehehe.

Martha Stewart Fringe Scissors

I LOVE these scissors, did I mention that before. I finally got the chance to open my own pair and have a play. So many ideas so little time. Here is just a starter with a cute little card. These scissors are really smooth and easy to use and cut beautifully. Given you are cutting 4 strips at one time. They definitely get the thumbs up from me.

How bright and fun is this card. So easy to put together and yet so effective and different. You can do so many things with these scissors. To grab your own pair (and these are a must have tool for any papercrafter I have decided) you can find them here.

I have been working on a mixed media canvas over the last few days. I will update with some photos soon as I have been taking a few along the way. Loving the idea of using different mediums to create something unique. I think I will be addicted to making a few more of these. Can't wait to share.

Yippee I did a happy dance and a very loud sqeal of delight when these bags arrived from the mailman this morning. My kids were like - Ahh What are you so excited about?? Creating with Pink Bakers Twine and Some Heartfelt Advice

I attended the Life In Style Trade Show and apart from finding new products to stock it is a great way to be inspired. It's great to purchase things ready made but as my sister joined me since she has now officially returned from working in China we found ourselves saying we could make this and we could make that. Realistically however there is never enough hours in the day and quite frankly it is a rare occurance around here that I create for the pleasure of creating. Often when I do create in the back of my mind I have the thought of how my customers might use or benefit from said creation.

So after a long and busy week I thought I would sit down and a have a play with the twine I have available. You see the other epithany I had running through my head yesterday was I have all these supplies and I just need to sit down without being attached to the expectation of any end result and just play. Get the mind and the ego out of the way and not judge myself whilst I create but just creating for the pure fun of it. So you will find below a little sample inspired by some things I saw yesterday and quite frankly I am not sure what you would use this for as it's too big for a card maybe it could be framed in a crisp white 3d style frame. In any case it doesn't really matter how you use it becuase I am just sharing a new way to use some twine and butterfly punchies doilies and large heart punchies. Might even be great to decorate a wedding album.

I might could even make this into a mini kit for customers to buy who don't have these supplies. Of course if you already have these supplies you could sit down and make something similar or alternatively copy it. Sometimes the act of just creating can be the same as sitting down and trying to meditate and clear your mind, only this is more fun. Just create and don't be attached to any outcome. Most of all don't be critical of yourself that you should be doing this or should be doing that. Just be kind to yourself and enjoy being present whilst you create and go with it.

By the way in case you hadn't noticed I was in the mood for a heartfelt post today. I also have the quote in my head that Sunny Mummy mentioned on facebook a couple of months back "Success in business does not make up for failure at home." I am always so mindful of this as my business gains momentum and yet behind the scenes I sometimes stuggle with the emotional drama of a growing teenager and how to handle these challenging years ahead of me.

So that said time to switch off, log off, and enjoy doing the things I love for myself and sharing those things with my kids. Quality time not quantity is more important. Time to kick guilt to the curb and stop using it as a procrastinating tool and just show up in life rather than finding every excuse there is out there as to why I can't. They are after all just excuses.....

I will be adding these large oversized hearts to the store shortly as well as the doilies probably Monday. The hearts measure 3.5" and the doilies are a little larger.

Have an inspired weekend and make sure you log off and log into life as Sunny Mummy would say. Words of Wisdom there applicable to this day and age. Our Mothers never had these issues maybe that's why they were so much calmer. We have gained so much and yet lost in other ways. Time to make the balance work back in our favour.

Hello Sunshine

Wow this beautiful weather in Melbourne is beckoning me to go out and play. It's so tempting. To compromise I am doing inside and outside jobs just to get a bit of sunshine and warmth. Would love to be out there all day though. I keep thinking that maybe I can take my work out there but this would be too much of a mamoth effort and not worth it.

I am soooo in love with this dessert table. I want to recreate it. I am not sure why but I am just overly addicted to turquoise at the moment and whenever I find myself out and about I am scouring around for turquoise accessories for my home. This dessert table is from Amy Atlas, you can view her blog below. Apparently a trip to OZ is on the cards for her, wouldn't that be nice.

So even though I am in over my head with workload at the moment and I have been lucky enough to have a 13 yr old assistant around here for the week (at a fee of course) I am on the hunt to find supplies to recreate this colour scheme to share on line with you all.

Oh and as for the wall colour (don't tell my husband but I secretly want to paint my studio this colour, at least one wall and maybe just one day I might actually do it without consulting him of course) hehehe.

Time to Fire Up again

So as the holidays come to an end it's time to fire up the cyclinders again. Although my eldest daughter has an extra week off I have already told her, no more sleepovers, movies or shopping she's done enough of that for the last two weeks and I am over being a chauffer. Instead she's now going to help me with some things over the next week. Payback is always a great thing.

As we farewell the first half of the year the second half is always the busiest. I know its early but all the end of year planning for Chirstmas begins now.

I know I posted less than 24hrs ago and here I am again OMG!!. I have to say this is a really randomn post and only because I am in the mood. So often I will bake and cook and take photos of it so I can share on this blog and then of course I never get around to it. So because we have been home this afternoon I managed to convince the kids to help me make the easiest Ricotta Gnocchi. So here are some photos this is what's on our table for dinner tonight (these are not yet cooked by the way). These gnocchi are so easy and quick to make it is a crime to buy them premade.

I use the usual Italian style recipe add as you go until the consistency seems right. However if you wish to endeavour to make these you can google and hundreds of recipes will come up. So simple and yummy and my kids love them way more than the potato gnocchi.

Of course some home made sauce to match. I usually buy canned tomatoes and the passata and add herbs and vegies like onion, celery, carrot, parsley, garlic and let it boil/simmer away for a couple of hours. I often do a really big batch with mince as well and then freeze for a future meal but just doing enough for tonights meal. The sauce is bubbling away in these photos, you can't really see the steam but it looks and smells delicious.

On another note, I also feel compelled to share that I purchased this amazing book Writing Down your Soul a few weeks ago and it arrived yesterday so I have been reading last night and today on and off when I have a spare 10 minutes. Absolutely love it. For those of you who journal or would love to journal this is a must read. I heard this author speak a month or so back on an internet radio show and I was sold. If you would like to listen to the interview you can find it at Empowered Living Archives the Interview with Janet Conner May 19th 2011. On a side note the host of this radio show Steve Maraboli is just so awesome and inspiring. Everyone needs someone like this guy on their team. I often put his archived shows on in the background when I am creating and usually by the end of listening I am so uplifted and motivated.

So back to this book, I know the cover looks a bit eerie but its actually a really great book if you like non fiction and are into spirituality, personal growth and healing. If this isn't your cup of tea then give it a miss. I have to say there are so many great books out there and I want to read them all but sometimes I think I already have so many however I am so open to learning anything new that its a bit of an addiction.

It's Been a While

A whole week to be exact. First we went up to the beach for a few days over last weekend, just for some time out which was nice. Then as soon as we got back it has been busy with playovers, sleepovers, lunches, kids activities, ice-skating, movies, shopping on and on and on and the kids don't seem to get tired.

Anyway I am happy that we are nearing the end of the holidays before I completely lose it. I think its just the altered routine with kids around and its relentless. A home day (what's that about mum??) Holidays are for going out what's the point of staying home. My kids can't sit still for 5 minutes oh and if by chance they do within that 5 minutes any peace and quiet will erupt into some fight about absolutely nothing. So yes bring on school, pleassssse....

Okay so I've had my really unprofessional mummy winge on my blog and yes I probably do it at about this stage during all the past holidays feel free to look back over my past holiday blog posts for evidence although I am sure you have better things to do with your time.

So onto craft. I have had some time over the last couple of weeks to add some cute new items to the store

I have finally surrendered to another form of online distraction. Yes I have joined Pininterest and I think it is the best thing since sliced bread but the inspiration is just so overwhelming and the best part (worst for time wasting) is that all the images link back to their original source which means you can get lost for hours discovering new blogs.

Which leads me to add this quote which I came across a week ago just for a laugh

Am dreaming up another DIY project for the blog and I am thinking video this time. That would be interesting. You will have to wait and see if I have the courage to do it. Have been toying with the idea for a while.

A gorgeous friend of mine has decided to have a go making the cutest cabochons and so I asked her if she would consider making some for the store. So this morning I braved the freezing cold and wind to go outside as it is really overcast here and get some decent photograps. Today was the last day of term for two of my kids. Holiday time again. It will be nice having a break to be honest from all the running around. We have an activity every night of the week between my 3 kids and then Saturday's as well. So even though there is more entertaining and supervising at least it will be at a more relaxed pace. I'm hoping anway. Oh and if you would like a fun way to keep the kids entertained we have a very popular card kit for kids. My Creative Space Today

Well further to yesterday's post I finally did clear my desk and create these tags. These tags were a custom request for a customer who wanted to attach some tags to her party favours for her 40th Birthday Party. She gave me her criteria, colour scheme and suggested a few of the other tags she had seen on site and asked if I could come up with a design that she then wanted to purchase as a pack and make up her own tags for her 24 guests as she wanted to be part of the creative process. I absolutely love that she chose to get involved rather than asking me to make them all up for her.
Below is my design. I actually made up two different designs and she loved them both so she has purchased a mixed kit. If you have a custom request please email me at kokovanilla@live.com.au. I love designing and custom requests are a favourite as they push me out my familiar creative zone.

DIY Scallop Circle Paper Bunting Tutorial

There are so many gorgeous and inspiring paper buntings around that I just had to jump on the bandwagon and have a play. Given that it was a long weekend here in Melbourne and the kids are home I had two main criteria it had to be quick and easy to create and something the kids could join in and help with. It is so much easier when trying to do these tutorials having someone at home to take the photos. My daughter Melanie was behind the camera for some of these shots.

DIY Scallop Patterned Paper Bunting Tutorial

These buntings are popping up everywhere, from party decor, desert table decorations, bedroom decor, you can use these just about anywhere. I just hung mine up across my bookshelf to show you how it looks when hung. Gorgeous don't you think I can see this hanging with some matching party decor even across the ceiling over the party table. Instructions below.

1. Supplies as per first photo, patterned paper of your choice, I used a Cristina Re Damask Design which had a striped pattern on the alternate side so I was able to use two patterns with the one paper. EK Success Scallop Circle Punch once again you can use any size scallop circle you wish mine was a 1.5". Double sided tape and Bakers twine or ribbon to string it with.

2. Punch out plenty of scalloped circles with your punch. This will depend on how long you would like your bunting to be. Just keep punching and adding until you think the bunting is long enough.

3. Once these are punched fold them in half. This is easy enough although with the striped side I had to make sure the stripe was all facing the same way.

4. Along the inside fold put a strip of double sided tape or glue I use double sided tape because I don't like messy glue. Also put a little bit of tape going the other way, so across just below the fold and then a vertical strip. When you fold the circle over it keeps the twine in place and the fold stays closed it doesn't flap back open.

5. Now position the circle under your strip of twine and once it is positioned where you want it to stay fold the scallop circle over sandwiching the twine inside it and press down. This will keep the twine in place and the scalloped tightly shut. Then repeat alternating the different paper pattern and positioning each scalloped circle where you would like it to go. The gap I had was approx 1cm. If you prefer not to have any gap that would also look good as well you might just be punching circle for hours this way

6. I cut the twine at the very end when I knew my bunting was long enough. I also left a long strip of twine at the start and the end of the bunting for ease of hanging up. Voila how easy is that. Super easy and super cute. No excuse not to have one of these for your next party. No hand cutting involved punches make life so easy. Of course you can use a few different papers if you like or make it all randomn using any paper that would be really colourful. A great way to use up all those paper scraps.

EK XL Butterfly Punch

EK has finally created a larger butterfly punch. I must say it is very pretty. It is a different style and design to the large Butterfly punch. This one is labelled as XL and is in the new slimline range of punches You can view it here (also photo below) and the dimensions are in the listing.

I have also topped up some of the scalloped circle punches and Martha Punches and there are more on order and on their way. Trying to keep a good stock up of the punches as they seem to sell out really quickly.

Also I have started making some changes to the store and there are many more to follow. As the website has expanded and we now stock more products its time to divide departments so it is easier to follow and find everything. It would be great if there was a search button, but my web provider doesn't currently offer this feature. So it is a work in progress requiring time and patience on my behalf , therefore if items are not where they should be that is why.

Many more new kits are coming soon. I am expanding the range and style of card kits as well as other types of kits. Plenty more for kids and adults.

Most of the current card kits are on sale as I am eager to sell all remaining stock of the current kits to make way for the newer kits so head on over and see if any take your fancy.

Having your own business.

In the mood to share some insights I have been having lately about what I do and why??

Before I begin I have to say I absolutely LOVE the quote above it really sums it up beautifully, I don't know the source so I can't credit it here but whoever wrote it thank you for your lovely words!!

The past week has been really busy, especially since our sale last week packing all your orders and shipping them out as quickly as possible.

I love putting orders together its such a great feeling seeing how customers choose their items the things they purchase that go together, the beautiful colours of everything, the variety of supplies. Each order is different from the next - always. One thing I have noticed especially in the last month is that I as I have gone out on a limb and begun to source my own supplies and using different ideas of my own, moving away from the mainstream of scrapbooking supplies and clearly it has been recieved well. Many of these orders were filled with items that I have sourced to sell on site that I really love. It is a confirmation to me that I am on the right track in where I am taking my business and what I would like to present to my customers. I have always said I only sell what I absolutely love which is why I don't stock whole lines of items only parts of them that resonate with me.

You see I have so many ideas in this head of mine that sometimes its frustrating as there is only one of me and only so many hours in the day and I want to do it all. I am highly work oriented and have been from a young child that its hard to switch off. Often just as I get into the momentum of working it is 3.20pm and time to pick up the kids and the reality is the working day is pretty much over once the kids are home until after they have gone to bed which is great if you are a night owl, not me however, I can do the early starts but struggle with the late nights.

So with that said I am constantly evolving this lovely little business of mine which I adore so much. To those who said it couldn't be done, I say it is being done. So greatful that I can do what I love doing and raise a family at the same time and be there for them as well. It's not always easy and it certainly is a balancing act and I have plenty of moments when I doubt myself.

If I had to sum up what I feel I miss out on working from home

1. The social aspect of going to work and spending the day working around others, it can be a bit quiet and lonely around here sometimes.
2. Working from home can feel like you are always home, which can be isolating.
3. Not having a regular paycheck from week to week which you can depend on week in and week out as its always fluctuating.
4. Finally one of the biggest drawbacks is that it's hard to switch off and have boundries between work and family life.

On the positive however, I get to do what I love doing and am constantly challenging myself to come up with new ideas and concepts. I love being creative and designing. I love the feedback from customers and networking with like minded people. It is so important to surround yourself with people that encourage you and lift you higher and have the same work ethic you do. I can usually discern a person and whether they operate with integrity or not pretty quickly. Being intuitive and following your instincts when you own your business is a must have skill.

So to sum up why I have my own business. The quote at the top of the page says it all. I know this post hasn't been a creative one but I am sure there are those of you who love to hear about the real life stuff of having an online business. I try to keep it real here and yes doing what you love inspires others to do what they love. Spending 8 hours a day doing something that you hate or just because it makes lots of money but you can't stand being there is a recipe for disaster. In the long term it will wear you down and eventually even create an illness not to mention make you a difficult person to be around because no doubt you are miserable and probably take it out on your family or those you love. Always pursue what you love to do and are passionate about if you have the option to and if its not an option right now begin to take steps to make it possible after hours. Another of my favourite quotes "You don't need to see the whole staircase to take the first step." Just begin where you are and do what you can and one step will lead to the next.

Okay well its way past my bedtime and I have gone on for way too long.

It is an absolutely freezing cold day today. I just went for a morning walk about an hour ago I love the cold brisk mornings. Maybe its the thought of coming back to a warm and cozy space aftewards.

This sort of weather is perfect for cooking healthy warm winter comfort food, lighting scented candles, listenting to beautiful uplifting music, creating amazing projects with your hands, reading inspirational books, drinking cups of hot chocolate, sitting by fireplaces having long uplifting and funny conversations with someone interesting and being thankful for each season as it brings new opportunities with it to do different things with our day.

New Designer Paper Party Bags in Store Soon

Just finished baking two deserts for tomorrow with my kids. Sticky Date Pudding and Choc Nut Fudge Slice. We have given my mum the day off tomorrow and we are all preparing a few things each so she can have a break from cooking for once. I love baking when I'm in the mood for it and the kids love getting involved as well. We usually put the music up loud, sing, dance and bake all at the same time. Most of the week my kids all have a home baked snack in their lunch. I prefer they have something homemade than a pre packaged muesli bar. Cooking and baking is pretty high on our priority list around here.

It has been such a busy week with sick kids home from school for most of the week. It feels like I haven't had any time to myself to create. Looking forward to everything getting back to normal next week and having some proper time to work and create and sleeping through the night again without having to wake up constantly to sick kids with fevers.

Anyway before I go I Just thought I would share some new products we will have in store soon. Cannot wait to recieve these they are super cute. Great new decorative ideas for lolly bags, party bags. The notebook bags are just adorable, these would be great with a little message on the front. Cant wait to have a play with a few design ideas when they arrive.

I have officially made it my job to source twine from anywhere in the world in any colour available and any thicknesss I can get my hands on becuase I personally love and use it so much. My Week in Point Form and Pictures

I can't really be bothered typing this blog post because I have a cold and am feeling a bit over the holidays at the moment but I feel I need to do a catch up on my blog so here goes.

Friday Night we had a 40th Birthday to attend of one of the mums from school, it was a fantastic night and I danced the night away literally 3 hours on the dance floor. The theme was a hairpiece or wig or hat or anything to glam up your hair. I played it safe with a flower in my hair personal note must get a little more adventurous with these things

Sunday we celebrated an early Easter with my family becuase my sister is down from China and heading back this Friday and won't be here for the easter day so we did an early easter and of course that meant an early easter hunt for the kids. I took 6 of these photos of the kids in this positon and not one has them all with a normal smile on their faces all looking at the camera. Funny face expressions seem to be the in thing so I just go with it now.

Monday was my birthday which was a quiet normal day becuase we had a big lunch at my mums the day before including a cake and happy birthday for me. My eldest brother put together an album of all the photos of my childhood up until I got married which was nice although I didn't turn 40 I am a couple of years away from that still. It was kind of like a this is your life type album. Don't you just look back on your teenage years and think how tragic with hairstyles OMG do not want to revisit those pictures.

My husband never grew up with birthday parties or so he says and is clueless about how to purchase gifts for anyone let alone his wife so yesterday I took my 3 kids into the city on the train and I purchased my own birthday present and had lunch with my kids and we had a really fun day. Turned the frustration into positive energy and I think its a better way to deal with the situation don't you think. Plus my kids really wanted to buy me something so this was their chance. I know I may sound spoiled but it really doesn't take much to make an effort or a kind gesture... anyway that's a whole other post and I am not heading there. I am certainly making sure my son does not follow in his fathers footsteps when it comes to being generous with money and gifts, hopefully I have influenced my kids enough to show them that giving is really important. Moving on....

Finally I have hardly had any time for craft or gym but have managed to keep up walks and running around the block when I can and I did make these cute little ticket tags which I need to complete.

Hi Everybody,

Happy Friday. I have survived the first week of the holidays just. It's beautiful sunny and warm today and I plan on spending it getting plenty of things done around here as well as enjoying the sunshine with my kids and going for a long walk. This weather is really all over the place from freezing cold to raining and now warm and all you can do is surrender and take it as it comes.

Easter Holidays

Today I am taking the kids to see this move, along with 1000 other mums and kids I'm sure. It's the perfect day for the movies, cold, raining, overcast, drizzly and just plain miserable weather wise when you look outside and of course is discount Tuesday for the movies as well.

Who knows by this afternoon it could be warm and sunny. Anyway how cute is this bunny. Apparently this movie is really funny and well I am in the mood for lots of laughs today.

On a crafty note since I seem to not be able to sleep beyond 5.30 - 6 am these days, I decided to get an early start on the day and list lots of new items that I have sitting here ready to be loaded. Easter Decor

Yesterday I popped into a new store which is actually part of an existing store. A friend of mine Nicole has just opened Design My Party an extension of My Christmas. This link is to the facebook page where you can find all the details. The store is located on Huntingdale Rd and has the most gorgeous party supplies ever. I don't have any parties happening at the moment but I couldn't leave without purchasing this cute lolly jar. The lolly jar is the tall one on the right of the photo. Inside it is the cutest wooden Easter Eggs. I have had these for a couple of years now and they make an appearance every Easter. I usually add a new item every year, kind of like I do for Christmas. Eventually it all adds up and you can do so some pretty amazing decorating. So now the only decision left is where to display it. In this photo it is on my front hall table, which I think is where it will stay.

However below it is in my studio where it is with all my other lolly jars that house my supplies, such as flowers, ribbons. I love displaying everything in big jars. Over the holidays I moved my studio around with my neighbours help so it all looks and feels quite professional (when its tidy) especially when customers pick up their orders and have a look at the supplies I stock.

In the background you can see part of my vision board, my cute little owl collection, and my other lolly jar filled with fabric petals. In the front is a stunning pin cushion I purchased on etsy from Creative Paper Trail. I purchased it for display purposes only as it is too gorgeous to stick pins into. Plus I don't really sew that much anyway.

Now is the time to make your house Easter pretty. It doesn't have to cost a fortune. Mind you on my wish list is a white timber tree from Bed, Bath and Table at Doncaster, hoping it will be on sale soon, to add to my collection so I can actually hang some of the Easter Eggs off it. I usually purchase items that have a multi purpose use. Like the jars will be used during the year for parties. The tree when I purchase it will probably be on display all year round and would also make a great photo prop.

Hope you all find some inspiration to get into some Easter decorating.

I am summoning the willpower to not eat any chocolate eggs this year. I have been doing lots of exercise and finally seeing some results as well as being really healthy with my eating and I am trying not too sabotage it all with my weakness chocolate. I will update you on the other side with that one. Trying to keep a strong, positive mindset about it all and think of my long term goals rather than the short term fix. Not a very natural process for an Aries as we usually prefer instant gratification and to make up our own rules as we go and change them if need be LOL!

Oh well as they say you are never to old to learn something new, discipline is my key word at the moment.

Happy April Everyone

My favourite month of the year. Can you guess why????

You might have to do some research to find out why, if you can be bothered, but anyway my favourite month just the same and no its not becuase of Easter.

I have just photographed these cute little bunnies and they will be making their way to the site and be for sale shortly. I have made some little sample gift tags with them as a way to use them. They would also make some divine cupcake toppers for Easter Day.

Moving on

This is what April in Melbourne looked like for a little while this morning. I love opening the front door first thing in the morning and letting the crisp air in, and this is what I saw, which looks completely different now approx 1 hr later.

Sometimes I think the weather can depict our thoughts, sunny but raining. I think we often have parallels like this in life. How beautiful to see the sun stream through whilst the rain falls, it is a great reminder that things in life are not static and we need the highs and the lows to appreciate both.

I have a busy day lined up today. Thankfully I only have to do one netball run instead of two because hubby is home this morning and is doing the first. Then I will do the next. I also want to bake a choc fudge slice for a party we have on tonight and try to get to our school working bee for a couple of hours this afternoon.

So on that note hope you have a beautiful saturday and a brilliant start to April.

Happy Monday Everybody!

Yay I finally did some scrapbooking on the weekend. I haven't done any scapbooking for a while, I just cant seem to get into it, but as Saturday afternoon was a little quiet, hubby was off to the Grand Prix with my son and the girls were home with me, they decided to watch a movie I decided to just do something for me and be completely indulgent and a do a layout. I put aside all the million of other things I could have been doing that list can wait. It's Friday again, the week just flies by.

I have a huge to do list today may I indulge and share:

1. Finish and photograph the latest card kit

2. Type up a newsletter and send it out

3. Load a whole lot of new supplies in store including some Easter Supplies which also need to be photographed (not great with a cloudy and overcast day)

4. Pack some orders and get them sent.

5. Do a proper blog update complete with samples.

6. Shops to purchase a couple of birthday pressies for parties on the weekend.

7. Do a really quick house clean before the weekend you know bathrooms, general tidy up, that sort of thing, just so the kids can trash it again tomorrow and Sunday only to clean it again on Monday.

All before about 2pm because my eldest finishes early today.

Do you think I have high expectations or I am just completely not in touch with how long things take to complete. Oh well whoever said Women-Mums can do it all and do it well, were completely off their rockers.

Hope you have a happy Friday and hopefully I will get to number 5 at least today and you might hear from me again.

Has just arrived. I ordered this collection way back in early Jan to arrive in time for Valentines day, but it certainly didn't arrive by that time. It is such a shame that we get supplies here in Aus so long after they are released in America. Anyway these papers are divine for any occasion not just valentine. I remember having a conversation about left and right brain with my life coach last year some time. The focus was about encouraging myself to use the right brain more which is our creative brain as well as the intuitive side of the brain to make decisions, the one that instinctively knows what to do, whereas the left brain is the more the analytical mind the one that rehashes things around and around before making a decision. I also call this the ego mind and the one that keeps throwing up lots of self doubt. Obviously we need to be some of both but usually are one more than the other. I know which one I am. There is a desciption below the picture of each brain. I just love, love image. it will remind me to stop overthinking and just do what feels right before the left brain has a chance to get in and anyalse it to the point where I procrastinate and then do nothing.

Vintage Sewing Tags and a sneak peak.....

Finally and I say finally becuase it feels like forever since I have made the time to sit in my studio and create and design some new products.

So firstly here are some new yummy new vintagey style tags. These feature sewing manequins which seem to be popping up everywhere on scrapbooking supplies. Here is a sneak peak of an upcoming kit I am working on. This kit has a different concept. It will be ideal for both adults and kids. I am loving working on it and just needs a little more fine tuning some more samples and its good to go. A little hint it involves some divine cake making except that indulging in these yummy cakes results in zero calorie consumption.

I actually started writing this post yesterday and then had to run out the door to take kids to bball and soccer. OMG I have to say its 5 weeks into the term and I am already feeling the affects of running around all week playing taxi driver as well as the other various rolls I have as a mum. So am up early this morning and finished it so I could post it here. So officially its Friday morning 7am. Okay post done, off to make 4 lunches, breakfasts and try and get these kids up and out the door on time.

I love a good "quote" !!

Working at home today in my studio. I have had a run of sick kids home off and on from School, and so much happening here and there with school appointments and events so its nice to have a quiet day with no rushing around to spend time on a few ideas buzzing, no actually whirling around in my head. Maybe actually more than just a few, 100s.

Anyway I came across this amazing quote that is actually on a stamp which I would love to stock in the store, but that would mean having another supplier on board. Anyway we will see. The stamp comes from Leavenworth Jackson and I actually just saw it on Donna Downey's blog.

Oh this quote is written for me I just love it. It has inspired me today. We all have good and bad days in life where we feel what we are doing is worthwhile and then there are other days where we have a seed of doubt. Is it worth it, is it the right thing??? It doesn't take much for people around us who may be negative to jump on that bandwagon and amplify that doubt and try to convince us that yes what you are doing is really not worth it. But seeing a quote like this made me realise that there will always be people like that around and I am not the only one who has one of those people in my life. Often you can just remove yourself from the company of those sorts of people, except that I just happened to be married to someone like that. I often call my husband my biggest critic sent to test everything I stand for. I can certainly see why I have attracted him into my life. They say opposites attract, and now I know why, it would just be too smooth sailing if you agreed on everything and there was nowhere for any growth or development as a person.

So I will forge ahead and keep doing what I think is the right thing for me, which often may not be the right thing for others. I love these little reminder quotes that jump into my life just when I needed it.

Create Time to Change your Life

Feeling a little on the flat side today and I was just fluffing around online looking for some inspiration. I came across this article referred to on facebook by Ali Edwards and went over to have a read. Just what I needed to hear today. The post is over at Zen Habits about taking the time to change your life. Head on over and take a look. It is very much worth the read for a bit of Sunday Inspiration. There is also a link to the changes Leo (the blog author) has made you can find them here.

A lot of what he has acheived can seem overwhelming especially when there are several things you are trying to change all at once, but I guess that's the key small changes, little by little, create one big change. But really getting focused and knowing what it is you absolutely want will ultimately keep you on track when you begin to doubt yourself or take steps backwards as is inevitable in any change process.

Anyway Leo says it a lot better than I do, so I will leave it there.

Wedding Thank You Tags

Last week I had a huge wedding order to complete for a wonderful bride to be getting married this weekend. It included matching shipping tags to tie around the napkin on the table as a place tag, little stamped thank you tags for the party favours or otherwise known as Bonbonierri and a whole lot of Large thank you cards to send out after the event to guests. I forgot to photograph the first lot as I sent it out in two batches, but I did snap a photo of the thank you cards to be mailed after the wedding. The Bride sent me a photo of the Bridesmade dress which had a pink lining with a choc brown sheer fabric over the top and therefore wanted the stationery to match the dress. Here is what I came up with.

Of course it helps that I have so many different papers here and ribbons and of course my all time favourite twine. The Pink and white twine was used to tie the name tags around the napkin and also to tie the thank you tag on the bonbonierri. Gorgeous Cristina Re Paper and of course I just happen to have a pink/white/choc brown ribbon to match. I love it when everything co-ordinates. The Bride was very happy with it all and I can't ask for more than that. Have a beautiful Wedding day Christen!!

I saw this print posted on PS I love you's wall on facebook and I just fell in love with it. It is a print and I would love to have one displayed on the wall in my studio. So beautiful and so true. If only I had seen this yesterday on Valentine's day. You can purchase it in this Etsy Store here.

It really must be the season of Love because I have been busy helping a few brides out with their wedding invitations and thank you cards in the last couple of weeks. I will post some pictures soon of a special custom order I did for a bride last week.
